A local van, not a call centre

What we are

A tyre business in Saffron Walden, Essex, working 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Two halves to it. A tyre bay on De Bohun Court, where you can drive in and have it done while you wait. And one liveried VW Crafter, kitted out the same way, for everything that can’t get to us: a proper tyre changing machine, a wheel balancer, a compressor and air tank, TPMS programming kit and locking wheel nut extractors.

That kit list matters more than it sounds. A lot of “mobile tyre fitters” are a car, a trolley jack and a hope that the tyre you need is one they happen to have. If a wheel can’t be balanced on site, it goes back on unbalanced and you feel it through the steering at seventy. We balance every wheel, on the van, every time.

What we’re not

We’re not a national booking platform. If you search for mobile tyre fitting around here, most of what comes back is exactly that: a website with fifty near-identical town pages, a call centre number and a subcontractor sent out if one happens to be free. Several of them share the same phone number across different-looking sites.

There’s nothing illegal about it, but it’s worth knowing who you’re actually ringing at two in the morning. Here you’re ringing a tyre bay in Saffron Walden and the van parked outside it.

5.0 stars from 66 reviews, every one of them five. That’s not an accident of a new business with a handful of ratings. It’s what happens when the same person quotes the job, drives to it, does it and takes the money, so there’s nobody to blame and nowhere to hide.

The area, and its limits

Fifty miles around Saffron Walden. Close in, meaning the town, Newport, Thaxted, Great Chesterford, Linton and Wendens Ambo, that’s usually 30–45 minutes. The ring of towns is 40–60 minutes. The far edge, Peterborough, Ipswich, Luton or north London, is up to two hours, and you’ll hear that on the phone instead of sitting on a verge guessing.

We would sooner lose a job over a drive time than win it and turn up an hour late.
