Mobile tyre fitting in Stansted

Stansted is our nearest town, eight miles down the B1383, twenty minutes on a clear road. It covers two quite different jobs: the village of Stansted Mountfitchet, and the airport, which generates a steady run of call-outs all by itself.

  • Typically 20–35 minutes
  • CM24, CM22
  • No call-out fee

This guy literally saved my life. My wheel went close to Duxford and they came within 30 minutes on a Sunday around 6pm and fixed it on the spot for a very good price. Like, who does that? Thanks to them I didn’t have to pay a fortune for a recovery.

Pavel Schor · Duxford

What an amazing service — really fast, efficient and friendly. Puncture sorted in under an hour after my first message. Highly recommended local business.

Grant Dain · Saffron Walden

Called up and he was here within the hour. Two tyres done on the drive. Top bloke and amazing service.

Charlie Davey · Saffron Walden

Great service — got a puncture and he was able to fit a premium tyre for my car the same day.

Where we get called out in Stansted

The airport pattern is always the same and it’s one of the worst moments to have a flat. You land at eleven at night after a week away, drag the cases to the Long Stay, and the car is sitting on its rim. Everything is shut, the shuttle bus has gone, and the car park is charging by the day. We do a lot of those, and because we’re fifteen minutes away it’s usually sorted before the next day’s parking clocks over. We cover Long Stay, Mid Stay, Southgate Park, the Valet areas and the airport hotels. Away from the terminal, Stansted Mountfitchet itself is a hilly village with steep, narrow lanes and some serious kerbs on Chapel Hill and Silver Street, which accounts for most of the sidewall damage we see there.

If you’re standing in an airport car park at midnight with a flat and a suitcase, we’re the closest thing to a garage that’s open.

What we can do at the kerbside in Stansted

Every one of these is a job we do in Stansted most weeks:

All of it happens where the car already is, anywhere in CM24, CM22. The van carries the machine, the balancer and the compressor, so a Stansted call-out normally finishes at the kerbside instead of ending in a recovery truck.

How much does it cost in Stansted?

The same as everywhere else inside our 50-mile area: a puncture repair from £35, a new tyre supplied and fitted from £75, and no call-out fee for coming to Stansted. Ring with your registration and the size off the sidewall, and you’ll have the figure for your Stansted job and an arrival time for CM24, CM22 before the van moves. The price guide lists the rest.

Mobile tyre fitting in Stansted: your questions

Can you fit a tyre at Stansted Airport car park?

Yes. Saffron Walden Tyres 24/7 attends Stansted Airport Long Stay, Mid Stay, Southgate Park and the Valet and hotel car parks, 24 hours a day. We’re about 15 minutes from the terminal. Tell us the car park, the zone or bay and your registration when you call 07944 703971, and in most cases the car is back on the road before the parking clocks over to another day.

What do I do if I get a flat on the M11 near Stansted?

Safety before tyres. Get the vehicle onto the hard shoulder as far left as possible, put the hazards on, get everyone out through the left-hand doors and behind the safety barrier, then call 999 or Highways England before anyone else, because a live hard shoulder needs them to know. Once it’s safe, ring 07944 703971. We’re minutes from junctions 8 and 8a and carry everything needed to fit at the roadside.
