What mobile tyre fitting actually costs

Almost nobody in this trade publishes a price. Not because it’s complicated, but because it’s easier to quote high once you’re standing next to a driver with a flat tyre and no other options. So here’s ours, up front.

These are guide prices to give you a starting point, because almost nobody in this trade publishes any. The exact figure depends on your tyre size, the brand you choose and where you are. You get that figure on the phone, before the van sets off, and it’s the figure you pay.

What is always included

  • Coming to you. No call-out fee anywhere in the 50-mile area. Or drive in to the tyre bay on De Bohun Court, Saffron Walden, at the same price.
  • Wheel balancing. Done on the van, not skipped and not charged as an extra.
  • A new valve with every tyre, or a fresh TPMS service kit where the wheel has sensors.
  • Torquing to the manufacturer’s figure with a calibrated wrench, not an air gun and a guess.
  • Taking the old tyre away and disposing of it legally. No disposal charge.

What can change the price

  • Tyre size and brand. A 15-inch budget tyre and a 20-inch premium aren’t the same job.
  • Run-flats cost more to buy and take longer to fit.
  • Out of hours. A small element applies roughly between 10pm and 6am, quoted before we set off.
  • Seized or rounded locking nuts, if extraction is needed before we can start.

How the quote works

Ring, text or WhatsApp with three things: where you are, your registration, and the tyre size from the sidewall, something like 225/55 R17. A photo of the damage tells us straight away whether it’s a repair or a replacement.

You get a fixed figure on the phone. The van then sets off. Nothing is added when we arrive, and you pay by card at the vehicle once the job is done and you’re happy with it.

How much does mobile tyre fitting cost in Saffron Walden?

The daytime price applies seven days a week, including weekends and bank holidays. A small out-of-hours element applies between roughly 10pm and 6am to cover working through the night, and it’s included in the figure you’re given on the phone before we set off. There are no surprise charges at the roadside at 3am.

Is mobile tyre fitting more expensive than a garage?

Usually it costs a little more per tyre than a fixed depot, because a van, a tyre machine and a balancer are coming to you. The gap is often smaller than people expect, and it disappears entirely once you count a recovery truck, a taxi, a day off work or a courtesy car. For a flat tyre away from home, mobile fitting is normally the cheaper answer overall.

What payment do you take?

Card at the car: debit, credit, Apple Pay and Google Pay all work. Cash is fine too, and Saffron Walden Tyres 24/7 can set up bank transfer for business and fleet accounts. You pay once the job is finished and you’re happy with it, never before, and the receipt comes through by text or email.
