How far is too far?
Fifty miles is the distance one van can cover and still turn up when it said it would. It’s a real figure, not a marketing one, and the honest part is what it means for your wait.
Close in, that is 30–45 minutes. Out at the ring of towns (Cambridge, Haverhill, Bishop’s Stortford, Great Dunmow, Royston) it is 40–60 minutes. Further out, at Ely, Bury St Edmunds, Stevenage or Colchester, reckon on an hour to ninety minutes. At the far edge (Peterborough, Ipswich, Luton, north London) it is up to two hours, and we’ll tell you so on the phone rather than let you sit there wondering. The M11, A1, A14, A12 and A120 do most of the carrying.
