This guy literally saved my life. My wheel went close to Duxford and they came within 30 minutes on a Sunday around 6pm and fixed it on the spot for a very good price. Like, who does that? Thanks to them I didn’t have to pay a fortune for a recovery.

Pavel Schor · Duxford

What an amazing service — really fast, efficient and friendly. Puncture sorted in under an hour after my first message. Highly recommended local business.

Grant Dain · Saffron Walden

Called up and he was here within the hour. Two tyres done on the drive. Top bloke and amazing service.

Charlie Davey · Saffron Walden

Great service — got a puncture and he was able to fit a premium tyre for my car the same day.

Where we get called out in Great Dunmow

The A120 does the damage. It’s the main artery between the M11 and Braintree, it carries a heavy volume of airport and freight traffic, and the dual sections encourage the sort of speed that turns a small puncture into a shredded tyre in under a mile. We get called to the Dunmow stretch and the roundabouts at Little Dunmow and Marks Farm regularly, often at night when the freight is moving. Away from the A120 it’s a different job entirely: Great Dunmow and the Easton villages are full of long gravel driveways and farm entrances, and gravel plus a slow puncture is our bread and butter. The old B1256 through Takeley is another one. Quiet, potholed in winter, and a long way from anywhere if you’re stuck.

Ten miles is close enough that we can often be there before you have finished reading your breakdown policy.

What we can do at the kerbside in Great Dunmow

Every one of these is a job we do in Great Dunmow most weeks:

All of it happens where the car already is, anywhere in CM6. The van carries the machine, the balancer and the compressor, so a Great Dunmow call-out normally finishes at the kerbside instead of ending in a recovery truck.

How much does it cost in Great Dunmow?

The same as everywhere else inside our 50-mile area: a puncture repair from £35, a new tyre supplied and fitted from £75, and no call-out fee for coming to Great Dunmow. Ring with your registration and the size off the sidewall, and you’ll have the figure for your Great Dunmow job and an arrival time for CM6 before the van moves. The price guide lists the rest.

Mobile tyre fitting in Great Dunmow: your questions

Do you come out to the A120 near Great Dunmow?

Yes, day and night. The A120 around Great Dunmow is one of the roads we attend most often, particularly the dual-carriageway stretches and the Little Dunmow and Marks Farm roundabouts. Get the vehicle onto the verge or into a lay-by, everyone out and away from the traffic side, hazards on, then call 07944 703971. Great Dunmow is only 10 miles from our base, so help is usually 25 to 40 minutes away.

Can you fit tyres on a gravel driveway?

Yes, and we do it constantly around Great Dunmow, Felsted and the Easton villages. Gravel is no problem as long as the ground underneath is firm and reasonably level. We carry boards for the jack if needed. What we can’t safely work on is a steep slope or soft, waterlogged ground, in which case we’ll ask you to move the vehicle a few yards onto something harder.
